We’ve recently won some exciting client projects, so to support the ongoing growth of the business we’re looking for a Firmware Electronics Engineer to join our growing electronics team.  You’ll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects and develop cutting-edge technology, whilst working as part of a friendly, dynamic and multi-skilled team.

About you

We’re looking for an electronics engineer with strong firmware capabilities, who has good problem-solving skills, a passion to learn and wants to be part of a great team.  You will be working with a team on several different client programs, we would also like you to have strong client relationship skills and 3 – 5 years experience in a related role.

 Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics engineering or equivalent experience background
  • Understanding of development tools, SDKS, APIs and devices stacks for firmware implementation
  • Proven record of embedded firmware in C for microcontrollers
  •  Circuit design to a minimum of schematic level, understanding data sheets for component selection in designs
  • Knowledge of standard communication protocols I2C/SPI/UART for sensor integration
  • Logical thinking
  • Time Management capabilities and self-confidence
  • Reviewing and Testing Code, essential debugging skills

 Required program knowledge

  • Experience of deploying embedded code to both 8bit and 32bit microcontrollers (STM32 and NRF advantageous)
  • Knowledge of Version Control and software documentation (Tortoise SVN)
  •  Use of Keil IDE for firmware deployment

 Desirable attributes & experience

  • Knowledge of RTOS for embedded environments
  • Keen passion for electronic and software integration
  • Circuit Design and Layout (Altium Designer advantageous)
  • Full product life cycle and design for Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of EMC and radio communication capabilities
  • Any IoT, Zigbee, BLE, Knowledge
  • Project Road map and timeline planning
  • Understanding of Network communications TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, BLE
  • Additional Programming languages, C# or C++ for development tool writing, PC applications
  • Knowledge of working databases, SQL or Web development (not essential)
  • Any form of software deployment using higher level languages, RAD Studio Delphi/C++ development would be preferable but any other phone development suites will be considered (Android Studio/Xamarin/Appcelerator/PhoneGap)
  • Knowledge of App Store/Apple Store for releasing applications to the world
  • Soldering skills to a minimum level would be advantageous

 Responsibilities

  • Researching, consulting project needs for product development, allowing time to keep up with industry standards
  • Embedded code generation
  • Testing and Debugging of PCB’s
  • Reverse Engineering capabilities
  • Document/version control
  • Planning timescales for projects
  • Working within a project TEAM to a common goal
  • Taking part in milestone meetings and adhering to ISO 9001 Quality Standards
